VOLVO Swiss Championship OPTI

VOLVO Swiss Optimist Championship 2008

The Swiss Championship 2008 is organized  on lake Geneva. It is one of the most beautiful spots of Switzerland. But it’s not a place where there is a lot of wind and during this championship that’s the case. But the perfect organization managed to start and finish enough nice races.

The organization is in hands of the Societe Nautique. Thats Yachtclub of Team Alinghi: The first European America’s Cup winner.

ChampionChip Sailing is pleased that this leading yachtclub contracted us to cover this national championship.  The parents follow the races live in the Clubhouse and with Volvo as sponsor everybody is ok.

VOLVO presents here the brandnew XC60 and a during the long postponement periods parents had time to take a close look of this exclusive new Swedish product.
From the reactions we heard we can imagination that next year there will be a lot new XC60's on the road, driven by OPTI parents ………

Welcome to the world of ChampionsChip Sailing.

Sailing events are mainly organised for and by sailors, whether it is in the top of the sport or at the local level. Watching sail boat races from the shore usually is not a lot of fun, because all you see is a lot of classes mixed up, and the distance from the shore to the boats is too great. As a spectator you have no overview at all!

Opportunities for sailors, spectators, organisers, sponsors

With the arrival of the ChampionChip X5 Sailing application, that has become a thing of the past. Because we can now directly follow what the sailors are doing out there, either on a screen or live on the internet. Virtually from every possible angle right among the fleet.

Of course, that makes it more exciting for the spectators, but the competitors themselves have also come to see the value of it. Analysing the race afterwards has become more than a ‘story in the bar': it can be done in pictures and with exact data on each boat's course and speed and where it made its tacks or gybes.

It took approximately 10 years of development before we were in a position to give competitors a stable ChampionChip X5 tracker to place in their boats. The X5 is simply a handy-sized tool that is easy to carry on board.

That is all the competitor has to do. The right settings, turning it on and off - that is all done from a central point ashore by the experts of ChampionChip Sailing. That is where the race data are collected and subsequently put on the web site almost live.

Those who stayed at home can view the action via the internet, while the organisers can show the racing to the screenprint_spectators on large screens.

And of course there is the action replay for after racing. For the competitors when they come ashore, or for later review on their computers: "Why did I end up in this or that situation at that mark?" or "What did exactly happen on that starting line?" Questions that can be answered and from which competitors can learn.

Needless to say, such features make this a very interesting application, because it enables organisers to keep the sponsors in the picture the whole time! For sponsors the application is a far better solution then the 'Bow stickers' or the 'Flag near the Race Office'.

And thats why we can guarantee you:

MORE EXPOSURE FOR THE SAILING EVENTS
