Small case, Big change!!

For as far as we know, for the First time in history, Track & Trace was used as evidence during a protest hearing in situation between two boats. During the IJsselproloog, a new cuprace for Dutch Lemsteraken the Bu 99 with skipper Nico Veerkamp and the HI1 with skipper Peter Houtzagers had a close encounter at the top wind mark. The BU 99 claimed he had to steer away to avoid a collision. Peter Houtzagers had another vision about this....... The jury suggested analyzing the situation with the ChampionChip Sailing Application, and use this in the protest hearing. Both skippers agreed. After watching the situation the jury decided that in fact it was a normal rule 10 situation and Peter Houtzagers was disqualified for race 4. Watching the real course took away the biggest part of the discussion and saved a lot of time and frustration for all parties! It proofs again that using the ChampionChip Race Application can be a big effort for sailor, organizer but also for the sport itself!

In the screen shot you see the situation with the light blue boat as the HI1 And the Yellow boat as the BU99.

ChampionChip Sailing Regatta Management Software

A large and committed group of developers has been working daily on the ChampionChip Sailing application, as the Application is not quite finished yet.
The past few months were spent improving and expanding the Spectator. This web page, on which the races are shown, has not only become much more stable, but now also supplies much more information than before.Following a sailboat race LIVE is even more fun now, because at each mark rounding the complete rounding list is shown. But, as we said, there are more extensive adjustments on the way. We are currently testing an automatic OCS detection, which looks very promising. The system is extremely accurate, measuring speed, course and position of the boat 4x per second. We expect to be able to follow the first regattas with this system in  the course of this year. That holds also true for the complete result processing module. That means that a complete ‘preliminary' classification will be available immediately after the finish. This saves race organisers a lot of money, because this automatic system only requires a check, and all results do not have to be entered manually one by one. Finally, our on-line entry module is completely functional. Organisations  using the ChampionChip Sailing Application can easily design their own entry forms in our software. In full-colour and in the style of the organisation, of course! This link is subsequently placed on the Event site, where competitors can enter and pay on line. Life could not be simpler! And for the sailors? The system has advantages for them, too. Once the data have been entered, they can be retrieved at each event, which avoids a lot of extra admin.
